Rec League

Valley Youth Basketball is the largest recreational basketball league, for grades K-6, in Alaska, with seasons held in the fall (Oct/Nov) and the spring (Apr/May) and even a winter K-2 league (Jan/Feb). Games are played on Saturdays at Grizzly Family Fitness with a short practice before each game. Volunteer coaches lead each team and handle team communication with parents.

Adult Basketball

Three-On-Three Basketball League is on Monday nights for any players ages 14+. This year the season runs from Sept. 29th-Oct. 27th. The 40+ Men's League also allows women of any age to play, you just need to find a team. The 40+ season will be on Monday nights from Nov. 3-March 23 with no games on 12/29 & 1/19.

Basketball Camp

Grizzly Family Fitness hosts several basketball camps throughout the year. Some camps focus on recreational players new to the game and others are for players with advanced skills and experience. Basketball is a fun sport to play and Grizzly Family Fitness encourages all its coaches to make camps make camps fun, even when “boring” skill work is necessary to get better!

Tournament

Grizzly Family Fitness hosts 4 tournaments this year: AK State Tip-off Tournament (Nov. 6-8), Ice Classic (Dec 4-6), Martin Luther King (Jan 15-17), and March Mania (Mar 12-14). Teams from all over Alaska participate. Teams are guaranteed four games with a majority getting five games or more. Tournament format is usually pool play games followed by a single-elimination tournament. Friday games are typically played by teams not traveling from out of the area, but outside teams can get a Friday game if they are in town and request one.

Comp League

Valley Comp Basketball (VCB) hosts comp leagues throughout the year. Fall 3on3, Winter Comp and Spring Comp. Teams play 2/games each game day. Comp teams are autonomous, meaning VCB does not organize teams. Kids find their own teams to play on. These teams find their own practice times and pay for the league fee to play games at Grizzly Family Fitness. Comp teams also purchase their own jerseys. 3on3 teams are easier to form as kids make up their own teams with a couple of friends or a comp coach breaks a team into 3on3 teams.
